Music + trees salon
Join us Saturday, February 28 for an evening of music and conversation, featuring Elderflora (“Old Trees”), a musical journey inside the mind of a tree, and a talk by Andrew Smiley (TreeFolks).

Hosted by Stafford Wood, 2105 Paseo Primero in Santa Fe, 6:00pm-9:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVPs are capped at 100. There is a $30/person donation at the door, payable by check, cash, PayPal or Venmo (see below if you wish to pay in advance).

Artist/speaker bios:
Majel Connery
is a singer, composer and musicologist with a vivid imagination. She believes that nature has a voice, and that we can learn to hear it. Connery’s Elderflora premiered at Seattle Symphony in fall 2024 and has since toured nationally. Majel resides in Santa Fe, and is a lecturer at UNM Albuquerque in the Department of Music. She holds degrees in composition and musicology from Princeton University and the University of Chicago.
Margot Schwartz
Margot Schwartz is assistant principal second violin with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, and former violinist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and Prometheus Trio. A violinist and violist, Margot holds degrees from Yale School of Music and Northwestern. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, and likes dogs with a quiet bark.
Andrew Smiley
Andrew has over 25 years of experience working in sustainable ecology and natural systems. He began his career as a pioneer in regenerative agriculture and food access. He continues his commitment to community and equity as the leader of a regional climate resilience and environmental justice organization in the role of Executive Director of TreeFolks in Austin, Texas.
